Guwahati: Assam Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora led a high-level meeting at Janata Bhawan on Tuesday, November 3, to finalize plans for the Bhupen Hazarika centenary valedictory. The event will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various national artists will attend the closing ceremony.

The meeting included member secretaries from government committees tasked with managing the event. Bora pushed for tight coordination to guarantee the schedule stays on track. He wants to highlight Hazarika’s massive impact on film, music, literature, and social issues. The minister said the concluding event would commemorate the life and work of the legendary singer, composer and filmmaker while providing a national platform to showcase Assam's cultural heritage.

Key officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarty and Director of Cultural Affairs Rahul Chandra Das, sat in on the review. A separate expert committee meeting addressed the creative side of the show. Participants discussed choreography, dance, stage design, and specific musical acts.

Other attendees included Sadananda Gogoi, Manisha Hazarika, Rupam Talukdar, Kamal Kataki, Rameswar Talukdar, and Ranjit Gogoi. They reviewed photographic concepts and artistic arrangements meant to honor Hazarika’s status as a cultural icon. The program aims to unite artists from across India to celebrate the man who defined Assam's cultural identity.
