Guwahati: Raijor Dal president and MLA Akhil Gogoi wants the Assam government to dedicate two specific dates to the state's cultural giants. He formally requested that September 19 be named Zubeen Divas and November 5 be recognized as Bhupen Divas. The move aims to cement the legacies of Zubeen Garg and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika for the next generation.

Gogoi spoke at Zubeen Khetra and turned his focus toward New Delhi. He aimed a sharp attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The MLA accused the public of making a big mistake by choosing him as leader. "Bhaiyo Behno," Gogoi said while mocking the Prime Minister. He claimed the central government sold the country and ruined it.

The legislator saved his heaviest fire for the Prime Minister's handling of local disasters. He noted that while the Prime Minister voiced concern over recent flash floods in Nepal, he stayed silent on the suffering in Assam. He alleged that the federal response to the recent flood crisis was absent. He claimed the Prime Minister failed to visit Upper Assam or even check on the well-being of the people drowning in floodwaters.
