Guwahati: Assam Police smashed a suspected terror cell linked to the Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti network. Officers arrested three men in a sweep across the state on Friday. The Special Task Force led the charge with help from local police in Dhubri, Chirang, and Barpeta. They nabbed one suspect in each district.
Raids turned up a pile of evidence. Investigators seized five mobile phones, seven SIM cards, and various bank documents. They also recovered multiple Aadhaar cards and debit cards. The officials have kept the names of the detainees under wraps for now.
Police are currently sifting through the haul to map the reach of the group. "Further investigation is underway to establish the extent of the alleged network and its activities," officials stated on Saturday. The STF continues to pore over the seized materials to track the suspected international ties.
