Guwahati: Dimoria MLA Tapan Das delivered a Rs 5 lakh cheque to the family of Himashree Boro on behalf of the state government. The money came from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Boro, a young dancer from Chapaidong near Bonda, died after vanishing during a train trip through Andhra Pradesh. She was returning to Assam alone on the Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express when she went missing. Her body was later found by railway tracks in Srikakulam district.

Authorities returned her remains to her family home last Saturday inside a deep-freezer ambulance provided by the state's Shraddhanjali scheme. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the grieving relatives on Monday to offer his support. He noted the public unease regarding the death, stating, "the circumstances surrounding Boro’s death had raised suspicions among her family members and people across Assam."

An Inspector General of Police is currently in Andhra Pradesh to help local authorities. While a post-mortem report ruled out physical or sexual assault, police still do not know if she fell accidentally or jumped. Investigators are working through call logs, train reservation charts, and station CCTV to piece together the dancer's final hours.
