Veer Lachit Sena Demands Assamese Language Use During Durga Puja

Guwahati: Veer Lachit Sena Assam is pushing to keep the local tongue front and center during Durga Puja. The group's Morigaon district committee sent out a formal request to all festival organizers and business owners this week. They want the Assamese language displayed on every banner, poster, greeting, and advertisement set up at puja pandals throughout the district.

Festival time is busy. It brings people together. The organization insists that protecting the language is a way to defend local culture and identity. Acting president Hitesh Deka and chief secretary Dipmoni Hira signed the statement. They asked for total cooperation to help the state's linguistic heritage survive. They believe growth depends on it.

The group noted that the festival serves as a sign of unity and social harmony for all of Assam. They focused on the necessity of correct spelling and grammar when using the language on public materials. As the committee stated, "Only when a language survives will the community continue to thrive."
