Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department issued a forecast on June 5 warning of severe weather across Assam. Over the next three days, several regions including Guwahati should expect thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Authorities expect this weather to cause significant disruptions. Potential impacts include increased urban waterlogging, traffic delays, and a heightened risk of landslides in vulnerable hill slopes and low-lying areas. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority stated that district administrations and emergency agencies are monitoring the situation closely.

Officials have placed response systems on alert to manage any weather-related incidents. The disaster management agency issued a public notice, urging residents to stay cautious and avoid non-essential travel during the storm period. According to the advisory, "People living in low-lying localities and landslide-prone hillside regions have also been asked to stay alert for any signs of flooding or slope instability."

Commuters are encouraged to plan their travel carefully as road conditions may fluctuate. The authority intends to provide ongoing updates through its official website and social media platforms, asking the public to follow these bulletins to ensure their safety.
