Guwahati: Assam district commissioners met in Jorhat on September 13 to hammer out governance priorities. The two-day conference at the Jorhat Convention Centre marks the first major gathering since the state government formed in May. Officials want results. They are zeroing in on service delivery and making sure state and Central schemes actually reach the people.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leads the sessions. He expects his team to handle the heavy lifting. "Our DCs are at the forefront of delivering governance on the ground," Sarma stated on X. The agenda is packed. Attendees will hash out district-wise development goals, public grievances, revenue administration, and infrastructure projects.
Law and order also remain on the table. This meeting follows a September 2 and 3 summit in Golaghat where senior police officials decided to form an Anti-Narcotics Task Force. Commissioners now aim to make the entire administrative apparatus more responsive to daily needs.
