Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma threw his weight behind Jharkhand students on Tuesday, August 4. These students are protesting massive irregularities in state recruitment exams. Sarma blamed the JMM-Congress-RJD government for failing to handle the crisis with basic transparency. He claimed he witnessed the students' deep frustration firsthand during his time campaigning for the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Sarma said, "During the Jharkhand Assembly elections, I had the opportunity to closely witness the pain, anger and concerns of JSSC-CGL aspirants regarding the recruitment process." He argued the state government ignored early warnings. Prompt action could have prevented the current unrest. Instead, mounting allegations of paper leaks now threaten the futures of lakhs of young people.

Protesters in Ranchi remain in the streets. They are demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC Combined Preliminary Test held on April 19. They want a total shakeup. Specifically, the students demand an independent probe by federal agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate. Sarma vowed his moral support for the movement. He urged the state leadership to stop the foot-dragging and meet the students' demands immediately, stating that harming the youth is unacceptable.
