Itanagar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu opened the NCC Academy Complex in Pasighat on Monday. This marks the first dedicated training site for the National Cadet Corps in Arunachal Pradesh. It serves as the second such facility in the Northeast, following the academy located in Tezpur, Assam. Senior officials from the civil administration, the Indian Army, and the NCC Directorate attended the ceremony.

The new complex houses cadet barracks, quarters for JCOs and NCOs, a guest house, and specialized training and administrative blocks. These buildings provide essential infrastructure for cadets. Khandu stated the facility offers a vital space for students to gain skills and develop leadership under the NCC banner.

Khandu emphasized the importance for border residents. "The NCC Academy at Pasighat will be particularly valuable for youth from our remote, eastern and frontier areas, bringing quality training closer to them and strengthening the spirit of Unity and Discipline," he said. The Chief Minister noted that the site bridges a gap for youth who previously lacked access to such programs.

Beyond the new academy, Khandu announced the launch of the Chief Minister's Frontier Sainik School Scholarship Scheme. The program provides financial backing for local students attending eight designated Sainik Schools and the Rashtriya Indian Military College in Dehradun. He also flagged an upcoming Army-led mentorship program designed to coach students aiming for military service.

Khandu pushed cadets to pursue careers in the Armed Forces and cautioned them against the pitfalls of the digital age. He warned youth to handle artificial intelligence and social media with care, noting that while tech offers massive potential, students must stay sharp against misinformation and cyber threats. He framed these efforts as building blocks for a developed Arunachal, stating that a Viksit Bharat requires a Viksit Arunachal backed by disciplined, tech-savvy youth.
