Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee demanded Chief Minister Pema Khandu resign on Monday, August 10. They claim his government is actively stalling a Supreme Court-ordered CBI inquiry. The probe targets public works contracts valued at approximately Rs 1,270 crore. These deals allegedly link directly to companies owned by Khandu’s relatives.
APCC working president Tanga Byaling slammed the administration for its refusal to assist federal investigators. The Supreme Court recently summoned the state’s Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of Home following reports of non-cooperation. Congress members are pushing for accountability. They want a fair probe.
Khandu publicly welcomed the CBI inquiry on April 6. He promised full cooperation then. The Congress party now argues his actions prove the BJP’s "Zero Tolerance Against Corruption" slogan is hollow. They fear the government is moving to sabotage the investigation through recent administrative reshuffles and staff transfers.
The opposition wants to prevent any tampering with work orders, digital records, or tender files. Byaling stated, "Khandu’s resignation was necessary to ensure a free, fair and impartial investigation." The party demands immediate disclosure of all requested documents and status reports. They also insist on protection for whistleblowers and officials aiding the agency. The state government has not yet replied to these accusations.

Byaling explicitly cited conflict of interest as a primary motive for the resignation demand, arguing that the CM must step aside to prevent any personal stake from tainting the ongoing judicial scrutiny.
The APCC also signaled alarm that the recent staff transfers hit specific departments tied directly to the evidence trail, heightening fears that key records are being scrubbed.
