Itanagar: Supporters and family marked the 10th death anniversary of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul on August 9. His wife and minister, Dasanglu Pul, honored his legacy, political work, and focus on remote communities. She remembered him as a mentor and the bedrock of their family. "Even a decade after his death, the pain of losing him remains deeply felt," she said.

Pul started with nothing. He worked as a carpenter and a school chowkidar before jumping into politics. He represented the Hayuliang constituency and held key cabinet seats. He managed finance, power, land management, rural works, and health portfolios throughout his career.

He became the eighth Chief Minister in February 2016. A Supreme Court ruling in July 2016 forced him out of office after a brief, volatile tenure. He died on August 9, 2016, at age 47. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences following his passing. Hailing from Hawai in the Anjaw district, Pul built a reputation for sticking close to the needs of the common man. His wife hopes his values of sincerity and humility will inspire future generations of Arunachalees.
