Arunachal Girl Defends Identity After Online Racist Slur

Shillong: Karga Tinkle Gongo turned the tables on a stranger who labeled her Chinese. The Itanagar girl stood her ground. A viral video captured her firm demand for respect. She spoke out after an online user questioned why she spoke Hindi. The comment stung.

The incident began during a simple trip for ice cream. Gongo's mother filmed the child after giving her 10 rupees. A stranger eventually harassed the pair online. They called the girl Chinese. Gongo hit back hard.

"One Bhaiya called me Chinese, so I told him, 'Don't call me Chinese, call me Indian'," she told IANS on Saturday. The girl also sang the National Anthem. She wanted to prove her heritage through song. The video features her saying she feels angry and sad when people ignore her roots. She lives in Itanagar and identifies as an Indian citizen.

Her mother admitted the family never expected the massive reaction. She witnessed her daughter grow visibly upset by the digital taunts. The girl insisted that physical appearance does not define her nationality. Supporters across the country have praised her courage. Her identity remains non-negotiable.
