Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is gunning for ODF-Plus status. State Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing met with Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil in New Delhi on Friday, August 21, to map out the state's path toward this sanitation goal.

The two officials reviewed progress on the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). Arunachal achieved its initial open-defecation-free status in December 2017. Now, the state wants to lock in sustainable sanitation, manage solid and liquid waste, and keep rural public spaces clean.

Tasing briefed Paatil on ongoing work to sharpen administrative coordination. He noted the state government is working to strengthen sanitation infrastructure across the board. Tasing said the state government was continuing efforts to strengthen rural sanitation infrastructure through administrative coordination.

Paatil offered the central government's backing for the project. He promised full cooperation and support to help the state hit its targets for clean villages and improved waste management systems.
