Arunachal Congress Reaffirms Commitment to Constitutional Values Over APFRA 1978

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee has reaffirmed its stance on the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act of 1978. The party stated that its position is rooted in constitutional principles rather than religious politics, distancing itself from any singular focus on faith-based agendas.

Led by APCC President Bosiram Siram, the party emphasized that the government must ensure all policy decisions remain anchored to the values of secularism, democracy, and socialism. The committee underscored the necessity of protecting indigenous tribal rights, customs, and cultural heritage while simultaneously upholding the religious freedom of all minority groups.

The APCC argued that social harmony and long-term stability in the region depend on inclusive governance. The party noted that its approach is designed to balance the needs of all stakeholders, stating, "lasting peace, social harmony, and unity can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect, constitutional safeguards, and equal protection of the rights and dignity of every citizen."

By prioritizing dialogue, the Congress aims to ensure that administrative measures do not deviate from the fundamental commitments outlined in the Constitution of India. The party remains dedicated to a balanced framework that respects both traditional tribal heritage and the legal guarantees provided to every citizen.
