Itanagar: The Committee on Government Assurances of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly put state departments on notice July 16. It demands immediate action on long-delayed projects. Chairman and MLA Laisam Simai led the session at the Assembly Secretariat Conference Hall in Itanagar to review stalled work from the fourth, fifth, and seventh legislative terms.

The panel grilled officials from the Public Works Department, the Department of Sports, and the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs. They reviewed Action Taken Reports to see why government promises remain unfinished. Legislative leaders insist that these commitments are not optional. The committee stated that, "government assurances made on the floor of the House must be honoured to uphold the sanctity and credibility of the legislature."

Accountability is the new priority. Lawmakers Talem Taboh, Rotom Tebin, and Tsering Lhamu joined committee staff and Assembly Secretary Tadar Meena to enforce the rules. The committee now demands fresh status reports on every incomplete project. They will scrutinize these documents at the next meeting to hold departments responsible for their delays.
