Imphal: Ariha Pangambam made history on August 7, 2026, in Tagaytay City, Philippines. The 22-year-old gymnast clinched India's first-ever senior women's individual gold medal at the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships. She beat the field with a total score of 19.100 points.

Her final tally included 8.650 for artistry, 7.600 for execution, and 2.850 for difficulty. This win ends a streak of frustration for the athlete. Pangambam placed fourth in both the 2022 and 2024 Asian Championships.

The gymnast is already a force at home. She holds gold medals from the 2023 and 2025 National Games. Her coach, Yumnam Ranjan Singh, guided her to this latest victory.

Sudhir Mital, president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, celebrated the result. "A great achievement for us. Did very well. Kudos to her and her coach," he stated.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also offered public praise. He posted on social media to highlight the win. He called the performance a moment of immense pride for both Manipur and the entire nation.
