Manipur's Ariha Pangambam Wins Historic First Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Gold

Imphal: Ariha Pangambam made history in Tagaytay City, Philippines. She became the first Indian athlete to claim the senior women's individual gold medal at the 2026 Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships. Pangambam dominated the final, posting a winning score of 19.100 points.

Her total score relied on a breakdown of 8.650 points for artistry, 7.600 points for execution, and 2.850 points for difficulty. The victory marks a major milestone for the nation.

Sudhir Mital, president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, cheered the result. "A great achievement for us. Did very well. Kudos to her and her coach," Mital said.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also celebrated the win on social media. He lauded the performance as a moment of pride for both Manipur and India. Singh expressed hope that Pangambam would continue to inspire young athletes and secure further honors for the country.
