Agartala: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced a budget of ₹975.91 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Mayor Dipak Majumder confirmed that the financial plan introduces no new taxes, despite a projected deficit of ₹97.67 lakh.

Presented at the Corporation conference hall, this budget marks the debut of an e-budget in the city administration's history. Mayor Majumder explained that while the revenue account remains in surplus, the overall deficit stems from a planned increase in capital spending. He noted that this shortfall will not delay scheduled development projects or public welfare programs.

To support infrastructure improvements, the Corporation plans to issue municipal bonds valued at ₹100 crore. The budget also prioritizes externally aided and centrally sponsored schemes to expand civic amenities and modernize the city. To ensure financial stability, the AMC intends to improve internal tax collection and diversify its revenue streams.

Majumder described the strategy as a forward-looking approach to sustainable urban growth. He emphasized that the financial blueprint remains balanced and will rely on the expected revenue surplus to drive future progress.
