Zunheboto District Issues Strict Security Protocols for Upcoming Town Council Bye-Election

Kohima: Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj has released official security and conduct guidelines for the Atoizu Town Council Ward 9 bye-election vote count. The process is set to begin at 8 am on June 19 at the District Civil Supply Office in Zunheboto, following the schedule established by the Nagaland State Election Commission.

Access to the counting hall is strictly limited to authorized individuals. Only candidates, election agents, and counting agents holding valid identification from the Returning Officer may enter. Government staff and assigned counting personnel are also permitted on-site. The order explicitly bans mobile phones within the facility to ensure the integrity of the process.

The district administration has mandated that all supporters maintain order during and after the results. Authorities have prohibited rallies, processions, and disruptive noise near the venue. The directive also warns against any form of intimidation or provocation toward rival groups.

Officials stated that violators will face legal action under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The administration is urging all stakeholders to act responsibly to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and orderly counting process.
