Imphal: The Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA) pulled a 54-year-old Kuki man from the custody of Naga youth volunteers Tuesday afternoon. Ngamsei Chongloi of Taphou Kuki village had traveled to Senapati bazaar to buy fish with a Naga friend when volunteers intercepted and detained them. The SDWA stepped in immediately upon hearing the news. They secured Chongloi’s release and drove him back to his home village to prevent further trouble.

A handover ceremony took place at the residence of the Taphou village chief. The village secretary thanked the women’s group for their humanitarian work. He warned that some local youths consume intoxicants and ignore orders to stay put during this volatile period. The secretary urged the SDWA to keep this context in mind as tensions persist in the region.

SDWA representatives reminded the public to stop loitering while state unrest continues. They warned that their intervention stopped things from getting worse. During the gathering, the Taphou Kuki Village Women’s Association chairperson thanked the group for their efforts. She stated the SDWA was "bringing a change in the society." The event closed with a benediction prayer led by the village women’s chairperson.
