Kuki Group Demands Safe Passage on IT Road Amid Blockade Fears

Imphal: The Twilang Area Kuki Civil Society Organisations Coordinating Media Cell issued a stern plea to Naga groups along the Imphal-Tamenglong Road. They want a stop to the mounting restrictions on civilian traffic. The situation has reached a breaking point. Ambulances, medical staff, and trucks hauling essential supplies currently face major hurdles.

A meeting held today in the Twilang Area highlighted deep concerns over humanitarian hardships. The committee pointed to the long history of peaceful coexistence between Kuki and Naga communities. They believe the current tension can still be resolved through direct talk and mutual respect. This mistrust must end soon. The group emphasized that "protection of civilian life, access to essential healthcare and unhindered humanitarian movement should remain above community and political differences."

Leaders from the Kuki side called on their Naga counterparts to ensure safe passage for all commuters regardless of their background. They want better coordination between stakeholders to prevent further misunderstandings. Restoring normalcy requires responsible engagement from every side. They are waiting for a shift in policy to prevent additional suffering for the local population.
