Agartala: Aparna Debbarma, a member of the Kwbwi Self-Help Group in West Tripura, has become a standout example of the Lakhpati Didi initiative. Based in the Hezamara Block, she has built a sustainable business model by diversifying her agricultural ventures and managing a retail enterprise.

Her farming operations include the cultivation of sweet corn, taro root, and chilies. She recently earned 65,000 rupees from her initial harvest of 1,000 sweet corn plants, with more still to be harvested. Her previous agricultural successes include earning 1.5 lakh rupees from capsicum and 80,000 rupees from yellow watermelons. With assistance from the Agriculture Department, she also operates a poly house to further boost her production.

Beyond crop cultivation, Debbarma manages a fertilizer shop that generates a consistent monthly income between 20,000 and 25,000 rupees. This business was established following specialized training provided by the state government, which helped her gain the skills necessary for financial independence.

Looking ahead, Debbarma intends to grow her operations by securing a larger loan. She is currently working with the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission to acquire support for an additional poly house, aiming to build on the momentum of her current achievements as a rural entrepreneur.
