Kohima: The newly upgraded Nagabazar Sub-Centre in Kohima officially opened its doors on Wednesday. N. Leamnyei Konyak inaugurated the facility alongside Ward No. 4 Councillor Zeneivonuo Nakhro and various community leaders. Originally established in 1987, the centre received its first major infrastructure boost through funding from the 15th Finance Commission Health Grants, supplemented by contributions from the Kohima Municipal Council and local ward representatives.

Staffed by eight healthcare professionals, the facility now offers twelve essential service packages. These include maternal and child health, adolescent care, palliative services, and management for both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Under the government's Free Drug Service initiative, the centre will also provide 106 essential medicines and 12 diagnostic services, covering basic needs like diabetes testing and blood pressure screening.

During the ceremony, Konyak suggested that the centre could eventually transition into a Primary or Community Health Centre if enough land becomes available for expansion. Councillor Nakhro described the opening as a historic milestone and encouraged local residents to take ownership of the facility. The event concluded with remarks from community leaders who emphasized the importance of ensuring long-term access to quality medical care for the area.
