Imphal: The United Naga Council (UNC) has officially petitioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand following the discovery of six murdered Naga hostages. The apex body is demanding the immediate termination of the Suspension of Operations agreement with all Kuki militant groups in the state.

The organization is calling for the prosecution of Kuki National Front-President (KNF-P) members involved in the abduction of 18 civilians last May. The group further demands the arrest of village chief Lalboi Vaiphei, several villagers, and a serving police officer named Thanggilian Vaiphei for their alleged roles in the killings. The UNC also urged the government to designate the KNF-P as a terrorist organization and remove Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen from office, citing her ties to the group's leadership.

Regarding the recovery of the bodies, the UNC stated, "The prayerful expectation of the Naga people that the humane action would be reciprocated by the Kukis was harshly negated on the evening of June 10, 2026, by the information that the 6 innocent Naga civilians taken hostage on May 13, 2026, by the Leilon Vaiphei villagers and the KNF(P) militants had been recovered not only as lifeless human remains but also in highly mutilated and dismembered conditions."

The council emphasized that these demands must be met before they will accept the mortal remains of the victims. They warned that the current situation represents a direct threat to regional stability and urged the government to act decisively to restore public trust.
