Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh is pushing a dual agenda: clearing the state of drugs and ending ongoing ethnic conflict. He recently attended two major events to promote the Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan and the 10 Crores Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign. These initiatives run under the Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyaan and Mission SPANDAN.
The programs at Manipur University and Pheidinga, Imphal, emphasize the government's push to curb substance abuse. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the nationwide campaign from New Delhi. Khemchand Singh told the crowd that reaching the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires a healthy, drug-free generation. He urged youth to become ambassadors for awareness in their schools and local communities.
During the events, the Chief Minister administered a formal pledge against intoxicants. He also honored Rajyogini BK Nilima of the Brahma Kumaris with the Universal Peace Ambassador Award for her social welfare contributions. Attendees included Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, medical professionals, and student volunteers.
Khemchand Singh remains optimistic about the state of law and order. He cited recent visits to Jiribam and Litan as proof that residents across Kuki, Meitei, Hmar, and Paite communities share a singular goal. "Members of Kuki, Meitei, Hmar and Paite communities have consistently expressed their desire to return home and live together peacefully," he noted. He observed displaced families sharing meals during his visits.
Despite this, the Chief Minister warned that violence continues to threaten progress. He blamed these disruptions on bad actors. "Such incidents are driven by vested interests that seek to benefit from conflict rather than represent any particular community," the Chief Minister stated. He vowed that his administration would offer no compromise when pursuing justice for crimes. He requested citizens to keep building trust to restore long-term harmony in the state.
