Shillong: Umroi Airport is set to celebrate Yatri Suvidha Diwas this coming Monday. The event aims to highlight ongoing efforts to improve the passenger experience while strengthening collaboration between airport stakeholders and the local community.
The day will feature a variety of activities, including a warm welcome for arriving passengers, a musical rendition of Vande Mataram, and a tree plantation drive. Organizers have also planned a health check-up camp for airport staff and a drawing competition for children.
Airport officials will take the opportunity to recognize their workforce, with special honors scheduled for the housekeeping staff and women employees for their vital contributions to daily operations. Umroi Airport Director Rajeev Ranjan explained that the day serves to acknowledge the hard work of the Airports Authority of India, airline partners, security agencies, and government departments.
Reflecting on the facility's future, Ranjan stated, "Yatri Suvidha Diwas provides an opportunity to acknowledge the collective efforts of the Airports Authority of India, airline partners, security agencies, government departments and other stakeholders in delivering quality airport services." He added that the airport remains dedicated to continuous improvement as it serves as a primary gateway to Meghalaya and the Northeast.
