Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with former Autonomous District Council members to jumpstart development in the state hill districts. The group tackled ways to reach underserved communities. Everyone wants more inclusive growth. Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dinganglung Gangmei, and MLA Kumo Sha joined the high-level talks. Local leaders are back at the table.
The meeting aimed to align the concerns of hill residents with state policy. The group analyzed paths toward lasting peace and harmony. This gathering follows a recent joint sitting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Hill Areas Committee, which ended a long period of inactivity. Members met in person and via video link to address critical gaps in service.
The Chief Minister underscored the goal of bringing essential opportunities to those left behind. He pushed for tighter coordination between current officials and former representatives. As the Chief Minister noted, "The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the aspirations and concerns of people in the hill districts and to discuss ways of strengthening collective efforts towards peace, harmony and development in Manipur."
