Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh took aim at hypocritical leaders on October 14. He said those who publicly demand territorial integrity often refuse to leave the valley or engage with other communities. The Chief Minister spoke at the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan in Chumthang Shanapung, located in the Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly constituency.
He demanded an end to mutual blame. He wants a focus on co-existence. "There are some leaders who always express that they love Manipur and don't want to break the integrity of the state. However, they remain unwilling to go beyond the valley and embrace all communities, which is very unfortunate," Khemchand Singh said. He believes peace drives all development.
The Chief Minister pointed to Singapore as a model for success. He noted that despite a small size, the country built high per capita income through hard work and shared identity. He argued Manipur should replicate this unity to unlock its potential, especially in sports where the state already excels on the global stage. Progress stalls without a calm environment.
The event also showcased local infrastructure updates. The Chief Minister noted that road construction in the Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency now uses a rigid pavement system. The work takes time. MLA S Kebi stated that the Abhiyan helps residents access government welfare schemes. Forty-two departments set up camps to help people sign up for services. Imphal West Deputy Commissioner M Rajkumar Singh and other officials attended the session.
