Tura MDC Demands Restoration of Autonomous Label on GHADC Documents

Shillong: Tura MDC and BJP state vice president Bernard N. Marak has officially protested the removal of the word Autonomous from the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council receipt forms and logos. He has urged the council's Executive Committee to rectify these documents immediately, labeling the change inappropriate and unacceptable.

Marak argued that stripping the title resembles previous attempts by former administrations to reduce the organization to a simple District Council. He warned that this shift undermines the legal status and administrative independence of the council. According to Marak, this action mirrors past attempts to diminish the governing powers of the institution to benefit the ruling political party's interests.

Highlighting the severity of the issue, Marak stated, "GHADC-ni receipt aro logo-o 'Autonomous' kattako ra·galaniara namen kragijani aro ra·chakna man·gijani ong·a aro iako da·o ong·enggipa Executive Committee, ta·raken taripilna nanga." He concluded by insisting that the council must stop violating its own established regulations and return to using its full, official name on all correspondence and formal paperwork.
