Truck Crashes Into Petrol Pump in Ri-Bhoi

Shillong: A truck driver went to the hospital Tuesday after crashing into a fuel pump at 17th Mile in Ri-Bhoi. The clinker-laden truck, identified by plate AS-01-UC-5013, spiraled out of control as it pulled into the petrol station. It smashed into a second truck, bearing plate NL-01-AA-6013, that was already at the pump.

The impact wrecked the fuel dispensing equipment. The driver suffered injuries during the wreck. Medics rushed him to the Byrnihat Primary Health Centre, but doctors later moved him to ARHI Hospital for specialized care. No one else was hurt.

Local police arrived at the station to handle the fallout. The damaged truck stays on site until crews clear the wreckage. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the accident, as a police official stated, "an investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of the accident."
