Ri-Bhoi residents get new grievance portal as community mourns death of long-time secretary

Shillong: Ri-Bhoi residents have a new way to report problems. The District Grievances Redressal Officer just opened access to the Centralised Public Grievances Redressal and Monitoring System. You can lodge complaints online at pgportal.gov.in or call 1800-345-3670. If you prefer face-to-face contact, show up at Room 108 in the Nongpoh office during regular business hours. Officials hope this move tightens the district grievance system.

Separation and grief hit the Sanatan Dharmasabha Harisabha in Laban. Former secretary Shyamol Biswas died in Kolkata on September 11. He was a pillar of the institution for decades. He managed the Durga Puja Committee in the late 1960s and later led the Platinum Jubilee Durga Puja Committee. The group held a moment of silence to mark his passing.

The organization praised his life. "His dedicated service to the community would be remembered," the Sabha stated while offering condolences to his family.
