Agartala: The Tripura government plans to host a major business conclave this July to secure roughly Rs 40,000 crore in new industrial investment. Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte announced that the state has seen strong interest from investors following a series of recent outreach programs and roadshows held across various major cities.

Tripura recently became the first state in India to complete all priority reforms under the second phase of the central government's deregulation and compliance reduction program. These efforts aim to streamline industrial clearances, making it easier for companies to launch operations in the region. Since 2022, the state has signed 394 memorandums of understanding worth Rs 35,140 crore, with projects valued at Rs 5,352 crore already fully implemented.

The government is currently pouring Rs 10,000 crore into infrastructure and connectivity projects to support this growth. Officials are also actively courting major IT firms to establish a presence within the state. As part of its broader economic strategy, Tripura has asked the central government to finalize the operational status of the Maitri Setu, an international bridge linking Sabroom to Ramgarh in Bangladesh, which is expected to further boost trade and regional connectivity.
