Agartala: Tripura has drawn over 30,000 crore in investment proposals during the last year, with projects totaling more than 8,000 crore already underway. Chief Minister Manik Saha shared these figures during a NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on June 12, noting that the state has successfully doubled its Gross State Domestic Product over the past six years.
Major corporations are now expanding their footprint in the region. Bharti Airtel is currently building a data center in Agartala to provide services across eastern India. Beyond industrial growth, the state has achieved full literacy and complete digitalization across all administrative levels, from the cabinet down to local gram panchayats.
The government is prioritizing social welfare and infrastructure. Nearly 4.96 lakh rural women are active in over 55,000 self-help groups, supported by the Samriddhi campaign to increase credit access. In the health sector, capacity has expanded significantly, with MBBS seats climbing from 225 to 550. Regarding long-term planning, Saha stated, "The state has adopted Lakshya 2047, a vision aligned with India's goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, aimed at ensuring an inclusive, secure, prosperous and healthy future for all citizens."
Tourism is also a key focus area for the administration. Officials are developing the Tripura Sundari Temple and Buddhist circuits to drive visitor numbers and stimulate local economic activity.
