Agartala: The Union Government has announced a ₹1,041.07 crore allocation for Tripura under the upcoming Viksit Bharat GRAMG initiative. This funding aims to bolster rural employment, improve local infrastructure, and create durable community assets. The announcement followed a virtual review meeting led by Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who consulted with state ministers regarding the national rollout of the program.

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for building self-reliant and prosperous rural communities. The Centre has already distributed substantial resources to support nationwide development, including ₹30,000 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Total funding support for these rural activities has now surpassed ₹1.25 lakh crore.

Within the northeastern region, Assam leads with an allocation of ₹1,929.24 crore, followed by Meghalaya at ₹1,155.09 crore and Tripura. These resources are earmarked for water conservation efforts, livelihood enhancement projects, and infrastructure upgrades. Minister Chouhan urged state officials to maintain momentum during the transition to the new framework, stating, "Employment opportunities, wage payments, and worker benefits must continue uninterrupted."

To ensure successful implementation, the Centre is emphasizing the adoption of digital systems such as Direct Benefit Transfer, e-KYC, and face authentication. Officials have been encouraged to finalize a robust pipeline of local projects and increase capacity-building efforts before the program officially begins.
