Tripura CM Orders Completion of Agartala Pond Project

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha gave officials a three month deadline to wrap up the restoration of a historic pond in Agartala. He inspected the site at Madhya Para Chalaman Sangha on Monday, accompanied by Mayor Deepak Majumdar and Councillor Ratna Dutta.

Saha spoke with engineers about the project pace. He wants it faster. The state is working to revive neglected urban water bodies that suffered from poor upkeep and illegal land grabs. "The state government has undertaken a sustained drive to revive old and neglected ponds in the capital city," Saha said. The government has already finished work on 35 other ponds across the city.

The current project near Prabhu Bari serves as a primary example. Authorities cleared encroachments and cleaned the water before starting the current phase of development. The entire effort carries a price tag of roughly Rs 3.5 crore. Officials aim to boost urban infrastructure and clean up the local environment.
