Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the successful rejuvenation of 35 waterbodies across the state. He inspected the ongoing restoration at the Prabhu Bari pond in Agartala on Monday. This site suffered from significant encroachment. Saha confirmed the recent completion of the nearby Shiv Bari pond project.
Saha personally audited the progress after hearing reports that work speed lagged behind expectations. He expects the Prabhu Bari project to wrap up within three months. He said, "A few days back, the Shiv Bari pond was rejuvenated. The Prabhu Bari pond is also a very important water body of the state and it has been encroached upon by many people. We have decided to restore it."
The government is spending Rs 3.5 crore on the Prabhu Bari and Madhyapara pond sites. Saha continues to monitor the work alongside the Mayor and the Ward No. 20 corporator. He noted that additional funds from the Asian Development Bank will help support city development and ongoing Smart City projects.
The Chief Minister slammed his political opponents during the visit. He claimed the Congress and CPI(M) neglected the environment and civic infrastructure while in power. He characterized these groups as troublemakers, contrasting them with his own commitment to improving public life.
