Agartala: Tripura Police added 470 new faces to its ranks on Saturday. The 469 constables of the 92nd Batch and one rifleman from the 15th Battalion wrapped up 12 months of hard training. They officially joined the force at a ceremony held at R.K. Nagar.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha oversaw the Passing Out Parade. He pushed the new recruits to keep their heads down and do the work. The Chief Minister said that "dedication and integrity towards duty are the keys to earning both respect and recognition in society." He expects their honesty and compassion to boost the standing of the state force.
The state has deep roots in law enforcement. Kings in Tripura set up an organized policing system back in the 13th century. The current structure of the force arrived in 1965. Now, the government wants to push that legacy into the modern era. They are working to make the police more tech-savvy and approachable for the public.
Beyond just keeping the peace, the Chief Minister told the force to focus on winning over the people. The event drew a crowd of top officials. Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, and Home Secretary Abhishek Singh stood alongside other senior brass to watch the ceremony.
