Agartala: Health Director Dr. Debasree Debbarma led a high-level delegation to the upcoming Agartala Civil Hospital on June 18 to review its operational readiness. This new 50-bed Urban Community Health Centre aims to expand healthcare access for residents within the Agartala Municipal Corporation and surrounding suburban areas.

During the site visit, officials assessed the infrastructure and discussed plans for key departments, including Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Dentistry. The facility is strategically positioned to serve local traders, daily wage workers, and urban families. By providing localized medical care, the hospital expects to significantly reduce patient pressure on the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

The delegation toured the emergency wards, outpatient departments, and medical storage units to confirm readiness. The state government remains focused on infrastructure improvements, with officials emphasizing the need for "ensuring adequate staffing, infrastructure readiness, and uninterrupted healthcare delivery once the hospital becomes operational."

Senior figures including Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Dr. Shalu Rai, and Dr. Puja Debnath joined the inspection. The Agartala Municipal Corporation will manage the facility, marking a key effort by the state to bolster medical services across the region.
