Agartala: Tripura Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman demanded a stronger academic framework across the Northeast. He spoke at the Education Conference 2026 in Dimapur. The event focused on the implementation of NEP 2020. The meeting brought together experts and administrators to weigh the goals, challenges, and opportunities facing the region.

Barman pushed for the integration of regional heritage into modern research. He wants the states to link local biodiversity, bamboo resources, and agriculture to academic curricula. The goal is to drive innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. He argued that syncing human capital with natural resources will bolster national development.

"Implementation of NEP 2020: Goals, Challenges and Opportunities for Northeastern States" served as the core theme for the conference. Participants reviewed current progress while brainstorming ways to refine existing systems. Barman emphasized that these collective efforts are required to hit the targets of "Viksit Bharat 2047." He believes this shift will turn the region into a primary economic engine.
