Agartala: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu launched the region's first Digital Forest Rights Act (FRA) Atlas on Friday during the Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026 in Agartala. The event, held at Pragya Bhawan, marked the start of the Birsa Lives in New Bharat Week celebration. The Governor was joined by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma to honor Bhagwan Birsa Munda during the ceremony.
The new digital platform, created in partnership with the Tripura Space Applications Centre, functions as a centralized system to support data-driven planning and monitoring of forest rights. Officials expect the tool to increase administrative transparency from the state level down to individual Gram Sabhas.
The government also introduced a Tribal Development Atlas, which uses GIS technology to map infrastructure across the state. This system already includes geo-tagged data for assets such as Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Ashram schools, and local tribal welfare offices. During the event, the administration screened a film on the Forest Rights Act and held a discussion with students who received the ST Post-Matric Scholarship.
Tribal Welfare Department Secretary Dr. K. Shashi Kumar noted that the state remains focused on providing education and skill development for communities in remote areas. The Governor praised Tripura as a leading state in implementing forest rights and emphasized that technological integration is essential for ensuring tribal communities receive their full constitutional benefits.
