Agartala: Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma demanded tighter cooperation between the state's hill and plain regions on Sunday. He insisted both areas must align to drive local development. The state Forest Department organized the event to mark the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples.

Debbarma addressed the crowd with a blunt message on regional unity. He rejected the influence of divisive rhetoric. "Sometimes politics teaches us to divide. But economics teaches us that we should go together. The message today is very clear: hills and plains need each other. Both areas should work together to ensure that Tripura moves forward," the minister said.

The event highlighted the deep connection between indigenous communities, nature, and biodiversity. Officials facilitated discussions focused on how these groups protect forests and live in balance with the environment. Nine individuals earned recognition at the ceremony for their contributions to poetry, folk music, and various other performing arts.
