Agartala: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has requested a Special Investigation Team or a judicial inquiry led by a sitting judge to probe the death of 22-year-old Monisha Das. Das, who worked in the examination cell at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, was discovered hanging inside a room on the institution's premises on June 12.

While the state government has initiated a magistrate-level inquiry and police have arrested a friend of the victim, party leaders argue these measures are insufficient. CPI(M) leader Jitendra Chaudhury stated during a press conference that the public lacks confidence in the current investigation's trajectory.

Chaudhury criticized local law enforcement for allegedly framing the death as the result of a failed romance before completing a thorough probe. "The government has ordered a magistrate-level inquiry, but the incident requires a comprehensive criminal investigation," Chaudhury said. The party is also pushing for financial compensation for the family of the deceased.

Located in Madhuban, the Tripura Santiniketan Medical College is managed by the Swadhin Trust and serves 150 students in its MBBS program. Police confirm that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death remains active.
