Morigaon Teachers Day Event Highlights Future Workforce Needs

Guwahati: Morigaon marked Teachers Day on Friday at Pobitora Haat. The event honored Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan while highlighting the role of educators in nation-building. Morigaon District Commissioner Srishti Singh, IAS, led the assembly alongside retired IAS officer and Chief Guest Thaneswar Malakar. Zilla Parishad CEO Satyajit Chetia, ACS, Additional District Commissioner Dr. Nilakhi Baishya, ACS, retired teacher Punaram Nath, and Inspector of Schools Dr. Apurba Thakuria also attended.

Officials released a booklet titled Arhi. It documents the recent achievements and activities of schools across the district. Commissioner Singh pointed to the local Tata semiconductor project as a driver for change. She pushed teachers to sharpen student skills to match these upcoming career paths. Training matters. The event emphasized that teachers hold the key to technical readiness.

Chief Guest Thaneswar Malakar reminded the crowd that schooling never stops. He told educators, "learning is a lifelong process." He urged staff to keep learning themselves to stay sharp for their students. Chetia added that teachers must build analytical minds in pupils to keep pace with Artificial Intelligence and new tech.

The program wrapped up with a tribute to retired staff. The district recognized five educators for their service: Ghanakanta Bora, Pradip Patar of Sukleswar Konwar High School, Debeswar Goswami, Bina Devi Sarma, and Pradip Patar of Palahguri Primary School. These teachers received honors for years of dedication to the classroom.
