Agartala: The Tripura BJP has accused opposition parties of exploiting the unnatural death of a student at Santiniketan Medical College for political gain. Addressing reporters in Agartala, party spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty stated that the state government is not interfering with the police investigation into the June 11 incident.

Chakraborty confirmed that one person has already been arrested in connection with the death of Manisha Das. A judicial magistrate has initiated an inquiry, and forensic testing is currently in progress to determine the facts of the case. A delegation from the BJP visited the family of the deceased, who reportedly expressed trust in Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to ensure a fair outcome.

Addressing criticism from the CPI(M) and Congress regarding the integrity of the probe, Chakraborty defended the administration's record. "The family has full faith in the Chief Minister and his administration, they are confident that a thorough investigation will reveal the truth," he stated. He maintained that police operate with full liberty and that the law will hold any guilty parties accountable.

During the press conference, the spokesperson also noted that the party is preparing for upcoming Village Committee elections. He concluded by urging the public to reject a proposed highway and railway blockade planned for June 24, arguing that such disruptions hinder development and public life.
