Agartala: Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma declared the upcoming Village Committee elections a vital gauge for the 2028 Assembly polls. He spoke to supporters on a Facebook Live broadcast on August 31. The party kicks off its election process on September 1. This move follows a long legal battle to restore voting rights to indigenous villagers after ten years of waiting.
Pradyot wants money flowing directly to villages. He argues that elected reps should handle development funds instead of MLAs or MDCs. He also pushed for honest, capable, and committed candidates. He issued a stern warning to his own party brass regarding selection. "This is an election of the people and your voice is essential," he told the crowd. Do not hand out tickets to relatives or friends.
The Tipra Motha leader slammed the BJP for silence on the issue. He also blasted the Congress and CPI(M) for failing to raise their voices. Pradyot remains firm on his primary goal: constitutional rights for indigenous people. He confirmed he will dodge any political alliances until those rights are locked in. With only 14 months left until the next state contest, the stakes are high. He demands results.
