Guwahati: Twenty cattle are dead in Tinsukia, Assam. They perished at a local gaushala over the last two days. The facility houses more than 300 animals, and several others remain in critical condition. Authorities fear the death toll will climb without immediate help.

Staff members claim the trouble started after feeding the herd puffed rice collected from the Tinsukia Siding Market. The facility sends two e-rickshaws out daily to gather market scraps. Shelter management suspects this specific batch of feed contained a toxic substance. They want a full, impartial investigation into the matter.

Veterinary doctors performed a preliminary check. They linked the deaths to food poisoning. Officials have not yet decided if the contamination happened by accident or if someone acted with intent. They are waiting on lab results to be sure. Shelter authorities issued a clear demand for answers. They stated: "The management suspects that the puffed rice may have been contaminated with a toxic substance."

Forensic teams will examine the evidence. Police and veterinary experts are coordinating the inquiry to find any wrongdoing or negligence. The facility remains on high alert until the laboratory analysis provides a definitive conclusion.
