St. Joseph University Students Urged to Skip Government Jobs for Entrepreneurship

Kohima: Nagaland State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Tongpang L Jamir told students to stop relying on government jobs. He spoke at the St. Joseph University induction program in Chumoukedima. Government roles cannot keep up with the state's growing number of jobseekers. Jamir pushed students to build their own futures using tech, innovation, and business skills.

He told the audience, "Build your own future." Jamir wants the youth to step up and play an active role in building a Viksit Bharat. He urged them to be realistic about their career goals and chase their dreams with focus.

The two-day event introduced new students to the campus and the academic layout. Registrar Dr. A Robert Xavier walked students through the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme. He said vocational learning and internships remain key to finding work. Alumna Sentinaro Pongen, a successful entrepreneur, told students to keep their values front and center as they start their professional lives.

Faculty members broke down the university's technical requirements. Dr. Achanger explained the National Education Policy and how the credit system works. Prof. Charles Mhonthung Ezung set the rules for conduct. Meanwhile, Dr. S Thiyagarajan laid out how exams and grading function. The university closed the event with a benediction to welcome the incoming class.
