Kohima: The Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) wants the Kohima Deputy Commissioner to fix the collapsing stretch of NH-29 at Kisama. Mudslides and road subsidence have hit the same spot again. The road is a mess. It creates a major threat for every driver using this vital lifeline.
SAPO submitted a formal request on July 30. They want the district administration to force an immediate on-site inspection. The group demands that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and the Public Works Department start both emergency repairs and long-term fixes. The damage requires a permanent solution, not just a quick patch.
Commuters remain trapped behind frequent traffic disruptions. SAPO warned, "the highway has become highly hazardous for public use." The group also pressed for the quick opening of an alternative route to Kisama while the main road stays closed or unsafe.
Regulations for heavy vehicles must change to help students and office-goers reach their destinations on time. SAPO wants authorities to coordinate directly with the Phesama Village Council for local assessment and community support. The organization promised full cooperation from stakeholders to restore normal traffic flow. They expect the administration to act now.
