Sivasagar Opens 24-Hour Flood Control Room for Farmers

Guwahati: Assam Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika activated a 24-hour flood control room in Sivasagar this Monday. The center helps local farmers report damaged crops to receive faster compensation and emergency relief. Hazarika stated, "In view of the prevailing flood situation in Assam, the Sivasagar District Agriculture Department has established a 24x7 Flood Control Room to assist farmers affected by the floods."

The facility runs under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer in Sivasagar. Three inspectors stand ready to handle reports. Farmers needing help should call Parama Bora at 69008 72364, Harendra Nath Deuri at 93652 14638, or Dhruvajyoti Phukan at 94012 08784. They manage incoming data and coordinate rapid response efforts.

Hazarika ordered all district agriculture staff and extension workers to begin field assessments immediately. These teams must identify crop losses and provide direct aid to growers. Severe flooding continues to threaten agricultural land across the state. This move aims to protect the livelihoods of the farming community during the crisis.
