Assam Minister Inspects Flood-Recovery Seedling Program in Sivasagar

Guwahati: Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora touched down in 2 No. Bhatgaj Gaon on July 31. He arrived with MLA Akhil Gogoi Borgohain to assess a new community nursery. This program aims to salvage the upcoming planting season for farmers reeling from recent catastrophic floods. The water destroyed homes and wiped out vast swaths of farmland across Sivasagar and surrounding districts.

Officials are now rushing to distribute paddy seedlings to those hit hardest by the disaster. The Agriculture Department is fielding staff on the ground to keep recovery efforts moving. Bora explained the intent behind the project on social media. "At a time like this, even a handful of seedlings carry the hope of returning to the fields," he said.

Government teams want to restore livelihoods before the window for sowing closes. The current focus remains on providing direct support to families and stabilizing local food production. Staff are working around the clock to prep these crops.
